oh the things i enjoy… it’s kind of funny- i really think hard about this- i try to be extra picky so i only share really cool stuff… but the reality is- a lot of what i love is really, really simple… so, in honor of simple… here are a few simple crushworthy things!

lamps: yeah, i know that sounds funny- but i LOVE lamps. at one point in germany, i had 5 one room. brandon hates overhead lighting (as do i) so, we are lamp people… i look hard for really fun, unique lamps- i’m a little annoyed that i have 4 of the same lamp in my house (that’s right, i said 4… but it is a great lamp and looks great everywhere you put it… i’m systematically replaces them… but i’m super picky… so it may take a while) my mama and her best friend dawn went to an auction this weekend and brought me a really great lamp they got for A DOLLAR. score!!! now, for the perfect lampshade….

me and kelly have the same birthday and anniversary… how bizarre is that?

in an effort to make birthdays special around here brandon and i have decided to do fun things on our birthday that are out of our norm.

(so we don’t have to say things like “hey, remember that year that we went to dinner and desert?” (because we do that all of the time) we want to say things like… “hey, remember that year that all of our friends hung out at the lake and flew kites?”

so, that’s what we are doing this year.

we are going to fly kites.

because i love sandwiches (and by love, i mean LOVE)

and because brandon doesn’t.

but he does love pasta & salad.

and they have both & they actually both taste great.

when our days are at their end and errands are without avoidance this is our stop of choice.

i have the club lite/all turkey/fruit/water/the yummy nuts on the condiment bar/corn bread/ginger bread (or whatever that dark bread is)/crackers/ice cream with graham cracker… sheesh… i wish i was exaggerating.

my latest favorite is still actually a speculation, i’ll tell you in a week if it stands the test!

adoramapix.com is always who i recommend my clients to print through when they purchase digital negatives- i know, i know, there are other labs i could recommend, but for what my clients need, they do well.

i use them for my personal printing and always love what they produce- when you need 3,345 4×6’s they are the way to go!

they have a new product- a picture book

i have A LOT of personal photographs (as you can imagine, i’m sure) and like you, i want really cool ways to live with them and enjoy them.

they aren’t so fun on a hard drive.

so, they have several great sizes of pictures books, the option to design your own (looove that), so i went for it. i had a really special day last week that i wanted to remember (and carry around with me to share) so, i made a 4×6 book- it will cost me around $20 when it is over and i will have a BOOK! awesome!! if it is as good as i hope, i plan on making these my vendor thank you’s after events… rock on! we shall see, or you shall see… you should check them out!

oh the week i’ve had (already!!) you should see my list of things to do… it would scare the most efficient time manager… my tendency is to tackle the big things and do the small things after the big things have been handled (which means, they almost never get done)- *** lightbulb moment had in conversation at our friend’s house saturday- i am almost always great friends with girls who have brandon’s behavioral traits (well organized, neat, time efficient, project starters and finishers) and almost always their husbands are like me. (a little messy, hops from project to project, puts things off, tackles the big tasks first) turns out, brandon and becca always do the little things first, and the big things last. THIS IS HUGE FOR ME. so, i decided, for one week, i would do that. can i tell you, i checked off EIGHT things on my office task list. EIGHT. and i made dinner. whaaaat… you guys might just be on to something.

so, because i’m checking things off of my list, i thought i would go ahead and post my TUESDAY CRUSH.

flip chart and sharpies that don’t bleed through? yes, please!

if you come into my office, you will see one of these charts all mounted up and covered with my lists of things to do…

everything tasked in black & marked through in orange or red… looove it.

i can’t tell you how much easier it is to accomplish things without being overwhelmed, and it looks fun and productive like.

don’t hate.

it’s my new office chair/stool-

needed: exercise ball chair that i could use daily and not end up with some kind of spine disorder because i have to sit in front of a blasted computer more than i was designed to.

answer: this genius german design.

only problem, you really can’t buy it on amazon.

oh, you can add it to your cart, get all giddy that they have red and it will look fun in your office- but when you try to check out.

no bueno.

it says it isn’t available.

so, what do you do? try for 2 more weeks hoping it is a glich in the system to no avail.

then, wait for yet another lightbulb moment and head over to ebay*** sweet!!! they have orange (that is the color you would want anyway, if you had an office like mine)

and you order one.

then think about ordering another, but know, that whoever comes to your office will think it’s weird, so you might have to push it under your desk and sit in a real chair while they’re there.

i’m just saying.

you might just need one. but, you never know, hip people who care about their spines might come over, so maybe you should stop tying and go buy one now? before their gone?

oh, temptation!!

um, yeah, because everytime i want to speak spanish, german comes out. and that is a liiiiiitle awkward because not many people living in texas have actually even heard german, so, i think spanish is the new language of choice.

i grew up hearing it and understand a ton of it, but the reality is- there are spanish speaking people all around me, and i want to be able to serve them- love them, and have a stinkin’ conversation! my heart is to really understand language, i love it, i’m mean, LOVE IT. words are so powerful, and i don’t want to be another american who only speaks english (sorry, if that offends- but anytime you leave this country… or meet anyone from another country, ask them how many languages they speak… you will be amazed) so, spanish, here i come!!

most appropriately for the new year is a new blog that will finally allow me the full freedom to create, enjoy, share, and express the way i’ve wanted to for a couple of years now. it’s tough to know what you want and at the same time be limited by your (finite) knowledge of all things code and internet. i think i’ve found the solution. by desire is that this blog would be EXCELLENT. fully subscription worthy & full of fun and inspirational things. i’ve taken into account all of the polls from my readers and plan on sharing most things in this main section. there will be times that i venture off to other pages for specific purposes- but i’ve found, for the most part most of you didn’t even know there were other resources off of the main blog page- WHAT A SHAME! i don’t know yet if i’m going to import all of my old sessions, i may just periodically share favorites, revisit them as my clients come back for their new sessions, & enjoy the lack of archives linking to the old stuff when needed. i’m excited about things being new and fresh here. i fell like i’ve just cleaned out my closet. i’m going to work really hard at tagging and using categories to make posts easy to find (my new blog makes that super easy) – so, join me in this new journey!! subscribe to the feed or just stop by daily… goodness is coming. today i wrapped an AWESOME CRASHintoYOURbiz class with an up and coming houston photographer (shout out Ashley P!!) and we shot bonnie and clyde those will come soon!! for now, i’m back to tweaking this new BLOG! please share your likes/dislikes with me- i really want it to be great!
