i got a lensbaby and have been playing with it… it reminds me of a pinhole camera.  i used to make pinhole cameras out of everything- oatmeal cans, shoe boxes, cereal boxes, it is kind of nice to not have to run back to the darkroom to develop your ONE negative.  i was just snapping away.

don’t know what i think yet, i’ll have to use it in a session and share thoughts then.  hope you are having a lovely day… just thought i would share some beautiful internet finds… and then get back to work!

first, for photographers, i found this article yesterday and thought it was really great- i think it is so important to share our mistakes!  wouldn’t it have been nice to have known a few things to look out for a long the way!

i have been searching for online back up with unlimited files for almost 6 months! there are several companies that offer the service for PC’s… but macs were left in the dust.  oh, sure, i could pay hundreds of dollars monthly (because companies charge per Gig… but when you are talking Terabytes… per gig is just silly and completely out of the question! so, in my searching break yesterday… i found: BACKBLAZE.  5 bucks a month per computer. um. thanks back blaze. i love you.

latest records i’ve purchased:

the first song is worth the whole record and all of your savings.  i can’t get over it.  i played it on repeat for an entire day.  i’ve never listened to this fellow before and i’m not sure how i even stumbled upon him. but i can’t wait to hear his first two records.  they are on my list to explore.

which led  me to this stunning piece:

the newest from this girl: sara groves is on of my all time favorite artists.  i don’t even listen to the tracks before i purchase her records- because i know they will be fantastic.  her records are different for me than others, because i have to warm up to them.  she writes so differently that things don’t sound so smooth all of the time- there are more to the melodies that she writes & i have to listen again and again to grasp the pictures that she is painting.  God is with  her, in her hands, in her voice, in her heart that overflows onto the keys she lovingly plays.  i love her. this record won’t disappoint.

and the book that will occupy my free time and steal my weekend:

i know, i know… everyone has read it.  i thought i had to until i heard someone actually talking about it- then i realized, i hadn’t read it- i’ve just housed it- on my shelf since it came out and made it’s mark on the world.

it’s still shiny and new.  i am going to break in the pages today! do you want to read it with me? we can have a little book club!

on film. the only time in all of my studies that another photographer photographed me.  he name is esty.  he was incredible.  i don’t know if he really understood that or not.  but, he did it.  he captured  me.

this is the first picture in all of my life that i looked at and thought, that really is me.  it’s how i feel, it’s how i see myself.  it’s how i see the world.  i was twenty.  oh, how my world has changed.

i finished redeeming love.  truth be told, had a hundred pages left last night past midnight because i didn’t get to read all day yesterday, so there i sat, in the corner of the bathroom crying like a baby and so joyful for the characters of the book i wanted to go jump in my horse and buggy and find them.  it is amazing how writers can grab your heart with their words- then turn it inside out.  this book was a journey for me, a look back at my life in way i’ve never been able to handle before.  i felt as if my heart had been translated onto the pages.  and my husband’s character and strength were there right with me.  what a gift.  i have said and thought the EXACT things, some of them word for word- and in response to those feeling, actions, thoughts- my husband has patiently loved me… and responded word for word with the words on the page.  it’s nuts.  the Holy Spirit is the only thing that explains it.  how can a woman who doesn’t know the millions of people reading  her books relate to each of them and so perfectly, yet differently? only God can do that.  i have a list of recommended books that i’m going to tackle now.  i’m so excited!

if you are looking for a book to get lost in- a book filled with honesty, hope, and truth… this might just be the book for you.  i learned so much.  more to come…
