Photographer’s Tool Kit | Blogging tools

in my online searching and perusing i often find some pretty awesome ideas- some of them are kind of funny to me because they are things that i do/use daily and created myself out of necessity.  it rarely occurs to me that other people don’t do the same thing.  but, alas, they don’t.  hence the incredible market for workflow tools for photographers (because really, in all reality, who has time for ANYTHING ELSE??) i know there are a lot of aspiring photographers that read this blog (i think that rocks!!! thanks for using the poll) and i really want to do everything i can to equip people to do EXCELLENT work- because are  A LOT of people who dive into this business with less than excellent business practices or work- so- HERE’S to Excellence!!!

TOOL FOR THE WEEK:

BLOG IT BOARDS : MCP ACTIONS

this sample is an action that i downloaded (for free)

i installed it, pressed play and grabbed images from a recent session… seconds later- viola.

perfect fit. (thanks to photoshop’s smart objects! & MCP!!)

(you can find this engagement session here)

have you wondered how bloggers stack their images, or align them just right?  have you spent hours trying to make your images fit just right? well- there are LOTS of options when it comes to actions, and templates, and other really cool tools- but i thought i would share THIS one… because it is FREE & super easy.  i customized the action to be white and then added my logo.  so, yours won’t look like this- it will be black & still really cool! MCP actions have A LOT to choose from… A LOT… and she has a few freebies that allow you to test out how they work for you- HELLO… WIN, WIN!!  so, if you’ve been looking for some actions to try- head over to her site!!  the BLOG GRID ACTION (that just what i call it) is free sample of the zillion others she has created (this sister has been working!) she even has video’s about installing them!  rock even’ harder.

i have my own set of blogging actions that i just hit go on with the images that i want to add to my blog- again, created out of necessity.  i upload my images individually because i also post them on facebook & allow my clients to use them their- so, for me- the individual images are best- but i have to say… I LOVE THE GRID.  there are other tools that give you the same options without all of the hassle of building them yourself. (the math can get kind of tricky)  if you are looking for something simple… that adds your logo and makes you look all sleek- then head over to BLOGSTOMP – Chip will hook you up with a set of actions that will make your blog look clean and professional.  what more could you ask for?

here is to excellent photographs on excellent blogs!!  and to sharing tools that make our lives easier- this business is CRAZY enough with the shortcuts, right? if you head over to either place, please tell them I sent you.  i love supporting photographers- if you know of any products or photographers that should be featured, let me know!! enjoy the possibilities these tools bring!!

Genius post! Thank you so much for posting this. I’ve always wondered how people get those photos so nice! I’ve been stressing!

I don’t know if it’s just my computer, but I wanted to let you know when I’m in internet explorer as my browser I can’t comment on your blog, I can only do it if I’m in firefox. Again, it might just be me, but I just wanted to give you a heads up!

Thanks so much for this post!
